when buying a used SR saddle
SR Saddles and Steve Ray Gonzalez do not buy or sell used SR saddles.
If you consider the purchase of a used SR Saddle please note:
With any purchase of a used SR Saddle there is "NO ENTITLEMENT" to ANY service provided by SR Saddles or Steve Ray Gonzalez. ANY service to a used SR Saddle will be determined by SR Saddles or Steve Ray Gonzalez and may be provided as courtesy to the purchaser of the used SR Saddle...for a shop fee. Fees vary depending on the type of service needed.
Each SR Saddle is individually numbered, and it's very helpful to have this number when talking to Steve about a used saddle.
When buying a used SR saddle from a private party, you first need to check with SR Saddles for the correct rider sizing specifications on that particular saddle, with respect to seat size and length of rider leg when in the saddle.
Importantly, not every SR saddle can be refit to any horse.
Fitting a Used SR Saddle to your horse will cost from $150 - $300, plus shipping. Additionally, you will need to send Steve a plaster cast of your horse's back. Steve can send you the plaster rolls you will need for $35 plus shipping. Your total cost will be approximately $200 - $350.
The used SR Saddle may be worn or damaged from use, and may require additional work (and cost) involved with the refitting process. Steve won't know what work your used saddle may require until he can examine it himself. For example, the sheepskin may need to be replaced.
